Explosion-proof requirements of centrifuge nitrogen protection

This article mainly introduces a nitrogen protective explosion-proof system design of the centrifuge which is combined with a digital oxygen analyzer. This system design can ensure production safety effectively in the chemical industry and pharmaceutical industry.
1. Explosion-proof requirements
As we all know, temperature, combustion source and oxygen are the three elements to produce an explosion. So preventing the three basic conditions which can produce chemical explosions existing at the same time is the basic theory of preventing combustible materials taking place chemical explosions.
(1) Temperature
For a specific medium, whether liquid phase or gas phase, the operating temperature of centrifuge should be considered during the design process. But this mainly depends on the process conditions, so we don’t analyze it in detail here.
(2) Combustion source
In the centrifuge design, there should be enough safety space between the rotor for the moving parts to eliminate possible mechanical friction and impact. At the same time, the machine must have measures to eliminate static electricity. For the brake rigging, the mechanical friction brake rigging is improper, and the form of electrical dynamic breaking is used in general.(Electrical dynamic brake is a form of non-contact brakes, its braking time is longer than that of contact brake, especially in the time of fully loaded and with a large rotary inertia.) In addition, for the driving belt, it would be best to choose anti-static belt, because it can eliminate or reduce the possibility of static electricity.
(3) Oxygen
Inert gas protection is used commonly. Large volumes of nitrogen are flushed through the centrifuge until the oxygen concentration is maintained in a safe range.
2.     Explosion-proof measures
In fact, the nitrogen protection which is widely used in centrifuges at present is only a nitrogen inlet pipe and a nitrogen exit pipe, they are installed on the main case. When centrifuge at work, the nitrogen is filled into the cavity. About whether the nitrogen concentration can meet the safe range or not, it hasn’t had a quantitative control. Therefore, the reliability of nitrogen protection is poor. Now, there is an improved nitrogen protection system, it is set with an on-line oxygen detector and a pressure transmitter sensor. They will test and quantitative control the oxygen concentration in the cavity of centrifuge during the operational process, in order to control the oxygen content within the safe range.
